The SNES was released in the 90's, as the succesor to the 8 bit NES.It set new standards in both graphics and gameplay and with its MODE 7 chip, could produce amazing 3D effects. Its main rival was the Sega Megadrive and although I think Segas machine was slightly faster, the SNES had superior colours and image quality. This could be seen in the great line up of games the SNES had to offer.'Super Mario Kart', 'Chrono Trigger', 'Super Mario World', 'Super Metriod', 'Zelda 3'.......a steady stream of classic games, that made the console one of the all time faves of gamers.

One area of games where the SNES was particularly strong was RPG's.The main reason I bought a SNES was to play RPG's such as 'Chrono Trigger' and 'Zelda 3'.These games are still highly sought after today and command quite high prices. However, the power of emulation has given access to many of these games, including some that were not even released in English. The best SNES emulator I think is ZSNES .This emulator has been under continuous development and has now reached the stage where almost perfect emulation of the SNES has been achieved. You can visit their website and download the latest version of the emulator by clicking the link below. There is also a link to a ROMS section where you can find a selection of SNES games.
